All across our nation many individuals have been touched—or will be touched—in some way by a non-profit organization. Non-profits enhance our daily life and impact the stages of life from infancy to our senior years, yet very few people on the outside of them understand what it takes to run a non-profit, know how funding is acquired, or realize that as one of the great backbones of our society they face an increased demand for services in distressed times and situations. The individuals actively maintaining the non-profit always have a greater vision for their community than funding allows. They understand the need for funding and the advantages to obtaining federal determination of non-profit status with a 501(c)(3), but while maintaining the infrastructure of the organization and battling budget constraints, the task often becomes daunting.
 
Some people can and have successfully processed their own 501(c)(3) paperwork, but most people look at the paperwork, see twenty-eight pages of questions and tons of paper for instructions and immediately zone out, stack the papers, tell themselves they will get to it later and find themselves year after year never processing their 501(c)(3) application, even though they realize it is to their organization's best interest.
